release RB Shaun Alexander, FA 1600/1

Had he signed somewhere by now I mighta kept him, but I've moved on to other options.

I heard that no teams are interested in him. It's really surprising, considering he won the MVP just a few short years ago.

But RB's age fast, especially guys that aren't that fast and strong to begin with.

Alexander had the best vision I've ever seen in a RB, but when you look at his physical tools, had no business doing what he did in the NFL.

He was aided by a very good offensive line, but in the end, his vision is what made him special for a few short years.

I still remember that 5 TD game on Sunday night a few years back... ahhh, that was an amazing fantasy performance for those of us who had him on their rosters at the time.

Are you serious? You must be a youngin....never saw Sweetness, Sanders, Dickerson?....hell, I wouldn't even go so far as to say SA had the best vision of Hawks backs..I would rank Curt Warner ahead of SA...Warner did it with a crappy O-line making teeny tiny holes...not taking anything away from Shaun, but come on.....

I stand by it. I think Alexander's ability wasn't a fraction of either of the three guys that you mentioned, yet he still had a high ypc, broke the single-season TD record, and was a all-around stud for 5 years.

He probably ran a 4.7, he didn't possess great moves, he couldn't run you over and he ran kind of upright.

But he had the ability to see holes and break long runs over and over and over. He did it in college and the NFL.

I think if you give him 4.4 speed, or jaw-dropping moves like Barry Sanders, he could easily had put up comparable numbers to the top rb's in NFL history. Heck, you can probably put his 5 year run up against most HOF RB's and it compares favorably. If he could have stuck it out another 3-4 years, he would have a compelling case for the hall, based on numbers alone.

That was unbelievable. I was playing Ben in another league on that day, and I had Alexander, and we were eating at a Mexican restaurant during the game. It was one of those memorable fantasy football days.

My favorite Alexander memory is when he rushed for about 270+ yards as a true freshman against LSU. He had like 4 td's of over 50 yards. I've still never seen a performance like that in the SEC by a freshman, or anyone for that matter.
