I missed this one in the recent update of the roster app. However, when I process this trade, I show Hunters over the Active Roster salary cap by 84 cbs and I can't find a move that would have put him under that.
So what needs to be done here? Also, how does this affect Floyd's renegotiation of DeAngelo Williams? Does this affect the other trade Floyd's was involved in too? Ugh...help! |

OK...damn...I'll need to read the rules to see what we need to do to straighten this out...damn..
We'll need to do it before tomorrow midnight, which is officially when renegotiations are due by....

Can we get some input on this one? How much flexibility are we will to give a newbie, who is going through this process for the first time?
The way I am reading the rules, Bobby will take a 20% penalty hit, so almost a grand. Pretty steep...the ripple effect of the reversal of this trade also causes problems...do I get penalized for the Hightower trade? If someone has time and can read the rules to try and determine all the fallout, it would be appreciated...I'll try at some point today, not sure I can though....

According to the rules he has 24 hrs to make corrections before penalties apply.
So this would be form the time the descrepancy is noticed, being that swords has the official roster app, and noticed this violation this morning, bounty hunters have until tomorrow morning to make the corrections. Each team will be limited to a salary cap of 20,000 CB's for the Active Roster. The sum of all current year salary obligations of a team must not exceed 20,000 CB's. This cap is to remain the same each season. No CB's will be added to this amount. If any team exceeds the salary cap through a free agency signing, trade, or other move, they will have 24 hours to make a roster move to reduce their salary obligations below the 20,000 cap. If they do not, roster penalties will apply. |

Actually it is up to each team to keep track of his own roster and stay in compliance.
The 24 hr clock started when the trade was confirmed and not when i update the app. I cannot post updates to the app every single day. Each team is responsible for keeping track of their own team on the roster app. I track everyone's and update it in intervals (sometimes two days apart, sometimes two weeks apart). The Roster App I track and update is for you to a) verify/validate your team, and b) see where all the other teams stand (so you don't have to track their activity) |

I'm ok with either result since he's a newbie, but I would lean towards leniency this one time. Give him 24 hours from 8:51 this morning.

never said you should update the app every 24hrs.
So in this case and all cases, if you dont keep your app up to date, then make a trade thinking you have cap sapce, then its on you, I can live with that. But, as to how this effects burts subsequent moves after this trade, i would think only the first team in the chain would get the penalty. And since the origianl trade is void, so are any actions taken after that to the effect, if this is not the case, then we are saying you are responible not only to upkeep your roster, but everyone elses to verify a trade is valid. I would say in this case, give the rookie 24hrs to correct the mistake, we need to make a decision shortly, as any actions the two teams invlived in this need to know if they can make other adjsutments, renegotiate, trim rosters, other trades before end of day Wed, 31 March.

My personal opinion is we should be more lenient this time of year, as we are all just getting back into the swing of things, and lots of stuff going on.
Since I am involved in this trade, I will go with what the majority of those voicing an opinion say, but I would vote to give Bobby a one time pass on this one.

I would have to agree, during the regular season for FA, we have 24hrs to bid or player is sold, in off season its 72 hrs. So we would need somethign to say, ok, you have x hours to make corrections during off season times, and stays the same as it is now for the season. Like for instance, the review of trades by the rules comittie, easy time to slip through a lop sided trade in the off season when few are looking at the boards.

I have over 7000 cb worth of expired contracts or will have at some point. Does this mean I have to cut one of my players that has 1 contract year remaining and take a roster penality for the cut?

Since our trade was before April 1st. SJax salary goes against 2009 salary cap...this is what I figured you were thinking, since you have been very good about keeping your cap in order all year....
Let's wait for more input on this before I make a ruling on this and before you make any cuts....

I'm fine with a newbie pass on this one. I think the precedent has always been to give a newbie pass and I can't find where we gave one to Hunters.
And Hunters, yes you would have to make a cut. The cut of course will be split over 2 seasons (2009 and 2010), so only half of the cut will carry over in a couple days. |

Newbie pass is fine, but how long is one considered a newbie?
I think this his 1st off-season transition?

OK, thanks for chiming in guys...yes, this would be Bobby's first trade at this time of year, so easy to get the timing of cap release confused.
With his cut of Bullock, this should get him under the cap to allow for Jacksons salary.
