I have a couple rule advisory requests for the committee:
1. Can you please advise on the rules that apply to Ryan Grant? He is not IR-eligible by the rules on the MFL site, but there may be amendments not reflected there. On the MFL site, the 24-hour grace period for winning bidders doesn't mention exceptions for IR, but again - there may have been an amendment at some point. 2. Can you please advise whether injured players can be put on IR in advance of the NFL injury report and in what time frame? There is no provision for that on MFL, but I am thinking there must be somewhere, since it happens a lot - Sidney Rice and Michael Bush, as of late. |

When a player is reported as having a season ending injury, I guess we never check to see if they have been placed on injury report - but I am not sure that players on an NFL teams IR list show up on weekly Injury Report - Ben Tate is not listed for Houston, but is out for season.
As for 24 hour grace period, I think you are referring to my comment that Grant cannot be placed immediatly on IR for winning bidder...he must first make room on his active team...this is spelled out in the FA rule: "Teams are expected to responsibly manage their own salary obligations. Total bids that exceed the 10,500 CB's salary cap will be permitted, as it is not likely that all bids will be winners. However, if a team should have winning bids that exceed the salary cap, punitive action will be taken. If a team makes an acquisition (trade or free agent signing) which places them over the salary cap, they must release appropriate personnel to meet the cap restriction within 24 hours or roster penalties will be assessed." But maybe I am reading the wrong thing into the rule. Our IR list is to relieve your salary cap, so that you can go out and sign another player...if you sign a player already on IR, maybe putting him directly on the IR is acceptable?
