Scorpions deal with Floyds

Here's to Russell Wilson's lighting it up:

Floyds gives QB Peyton Manning, Matt Cassel and 2013 natural 2nd
Scorpions gives Blaine Gabbert and conditional 2013 natural 1st
Condition is, if Manning helps Scorpions to playoffs, and they finish with 1.10, 1.11 or 1.12 pick, then Scorpions also includes their 2013 natural 2nd.

Dale to confirm

I actually like that trade Burt.. everybody is down on Gabbert right now, but I think he's got a great tool set, a new coaching staff and will pan out nicely for you down the road..

The 1st round draft pick made this trade for Burt. Depending on how R. Wilson works out, worst case is Burt might have sacrificed this year for a stud player that helps him for the next 7+ years. I'm one of the non Gabbert supporters. But I drafted Josh Freeman in the 2nd round of my 1st draft so what do I know about QB talent.

My thinking was while Manning has looked good, I do not believe he will put up numbers like he used to, in the same level as Rogers and Brees. While they will be good, I thought now was the time to get something for him. A first round pick, plus a young starting QB, who from what I am reading has improved immensely over the last year, was worth the gamble, especially since Wilson won the starting job, and has looked very good in preseason. Against Oakland, he was poised, and was firing bullets to WR. One pass was right on a tightly covered Edwards shoulder, but the goofball was not ready for it. Kid looks like a polished pro. Should be exciting year for my Hawks!!

Sorry took so long to post response....was still recovering from the shock of Hans publicly agreeing with one of my moves... ;-)

There's a lot of risk/reward built into this one...so it's too tough to tell right now. Right now, it's hard to say that either Wilson or Gabbert are top 20 fantasy QBs...but that could all change. Right now, Manning is considered around the QB8-QB12 level. If Manning can hold that for the 3 years the Scorpions have him under contract then it's a solid move for Dale.

He was only agreeing because he has Blackmon and needs Gabbert to do well.

Your dart could've found it's target a little earlier.. but don't flatter yourself.. I don't agree with your moves even in private!

Well, if I valued your opinion, I suppose you could take my being surprised by your agreement as flattery...but YOU flatter yourself too much...

True...hopefully Manning won't improve Dale too much...1.1 would be nice ;-)

And quite frankly, there are too many question marks with my team currently, to think that Manning will make that big a difference. Getting some salary cap relief, and an extra 'dart' in next years draft was worth the risk...

The condition for Dale's 2nd round pick on this trade was not made...
