I guess the Rookie draft is a bit later than it usually is. I thought it was usually in mid April, but this year is May 10th weekend.
So when shall we officially start the Rookie Draft Clock? May 17th or May 24th?

I was gonna mention this a while back but forgot to post it. I would vote the 17th.

Right...also keep in mind, in SAC'd, we rarely wait for the official start date to post picks. So even if we voted for the 24th, we can start posting picks at any time prior to that. The clock would just not run until the 24th. Although we have had some 'by the book' owners before who use the entire clock on nearly every pick.

Do we normally start on a Saturday? When is the actual NFL draft?

Actually, we usually start it on a Monday...so adjust accordingly...
ESPN says draft is May 8-10th

I'd vote for at least the 24th. We used to have 2-3 weeks after the actual draft to prepare, so I'd rather have three, but I think two is the least we should give ourselves.

Anyone else have an opinion? So far, the majority want to start only one week after the actual draft.
Myself, I would prefer to wait until the 24th, give us some time to digest where each player went and what the impact is.

I say the 24th to give adequate time for research. If we don't want give enough time to research why wait for the NFL draft? We could just do our draft before the NFL draft, that would be fun?

I'm fine with either day. I'd rather go earlier since the time between picks can be quite long at times but it's not a big deal either way.

I went through last 5 drafts and here are how long each one took to finish:
2013 took 35 days 2012 took 37 days 2011 took 15 days 2010 took 18 days 2009 took 22 days So 2012 must have been when Hans started his protest of taking full time on initial picks. But even with that, they have only been taking a little over a month. So starting UFA in mid June, still gives us over 2 months to finish it up and be ready to start the season. I think that should be plenty of time.

We could have the draft and FA run concurrent. That would keep us busy while waiting for our turn to pick.

If the Draft runs past June 30, then we might start it up before the Draft is over...but would not want to keep track of both...

The 24th works for me.. and just to be clear I was taking a brow-beating because hadn't submitted my 1st round pick in a 'timely manner' during the 'unofficial' posting period BEFORE the draft clock actually began.. And thus my protest took the form of NOT posting my pick before it was my turn to do so, until after the clock officially starts. During the draft I only ever took as much time as I needed, and posted my picks when ready.
![]() The more I am pushed, the deeper I dig in and by the sounds of things everyone is already crying and campaigning for me to continue my pre-draft protest for another season.. SO BE IT.

Good luck.

Start drafting now if you want.. but pick 1.7 will not be made before 12:01am on the 24th.. and AGAIN, I have never ever taken the full 24 hours out of petty spite as you imply: After the clock starts, I take only the time I need as I am usually pretty anxious to see how far astray your next 'dart' goes Burt.

Like I said, it was just a statement of fact, you took much longer to make picks after the comment was made, at least in initial rounds, and just going off of what YOU are implying, twice now:
"UNLESS someone goes Kim Jong-un on me again like the Clowns did.. and then what can I say? I dig in my heels deeper the harder I get pushed; it’s just how I am wired" "The more I am pushed, the deeper I dig in and by the sounds of things everyone is already crying and campaigning for me to continue my pre-draft protest for another season.. SO BE IT." But you are within the rules, and no changes will be suggested by me to have it any other way, so no worries. And the Paul Worrilow dart was pretty decent toss last year, so my aim is getting better, so watch out!!
