The Opihi are extremely happy to pay Mr. Ryan's contract... which is a HUGE increase for him from last season (We stole him for 171cbs), when he was unceremoniously dumped by his owning team (who shall remain nameless to avoid embarrassment)... and then went on to be #3 fantasy QB for 2018. Will he repeat that in 2019? Probably not. But for under 500cbs, it's a good contract. Might even make a run for the #1 Opihi QB by the start of the season.

Yes, that is an unbelievable steal for the Opihi!!! 13 games in domes this season - where Ryan excels! I truly believe he is in for another big number season with a running game that can't be forced due to thin depth...plus, even though Opihi GM likes RW better - Seattle just relies too much on the run and now a younger than average WR corps makes RW a riskier option imo ...Cards are happy to see Matty Ice stay out of the West!!!

Question. How does this impact Opihi Salary Cap? On the MLF site, he shows 2188 available. With the 450 for Ryan and the 2000 for Allen, is he considered over and needs to adjust his roster?

He can be over at the time of the match, as long as he gets under within 48 hours of the match.

Thanks for the clarification. Just wanted to be sure I understood that Allen still counted against him, since hasn't been bid on yet. Once someone bids on Allen, he is no longer counted against Opihi's cap, correct?

That is correct. RFA tenders count on a teams cap until/if they are bid on.

The bigger issue will be when Opihi gets Allen shoved onto the roster when he don't sell...looks like poor Fitzy gonna be a cap casualty as well as Robinson...guess them Vikes receivers are more trouble than they are worth...lol

Allen, Thielen, Diggs & Fitz all have the same bye. One of them will have to get moved at some point, or the Opihi will just take their lumps week 12!

If a player is dropped during RFA, does he go through the Waiver Wire process - using the 72 hour (off-season) clock? Or are the rules different during the RFA period?

No waivers, they go straight to UFA (which starts after the rookie draft). See similar discussion on Mark Ingram when he was cut as a RFA last season.

Follow-up question. So the RFAs he has (Allen, Thielen, Diggs, etc...) would go straight to UAF. What if he cuts a Non-RFA player (Fitz for example) Does he go straight to UAF or would he be subject to waivers first?

Oops, I misunderstood your first question. If a team cuts a RFA they've TENDERED without that player being bid upon, that player becomes a UFA and isn't subject to Waivers.

If a team cuts a RFA that they've either won or Retained, that player is subject to the standard 20% penalty and IS subject to waivers and can be claimed. If not claimed, then the player becomes a UFA when the UFA period opens.

Thus in your example, Allen wouldn't be eligible for a claim if the Opihi cut him at this time, whereas Thielen ans Diggs (RFA's he's won) WOULD be eligible for Waivers as would Fitz (a carryover from his 2018 roster).

Once Ryan was put out to bid, his RFA tender amount was removed from opihi cap I haven't looked at numbers, but did you account for that?

Bobbys comment deserves some investigation...because it would affect ownership of Williams and Ryan at a minimum...

I've kinda looked at it and the timing of the release of Ajayi doesn't make enough room...which makes me curious about the next previous acquisitions (Diggs/Thielen)...some forensic accounting may be in order...
