Um, I know Mike never likes to post my team's acquisitions... but since the 48 hour limit has passed (and either I'm way off on this guy, or no one's checking the board anymore so I picked a great time to bid on him!)...
SO... that means Mr. McCareins is now a Royal Hawaiian Opihi! Please place him on the DS, Mike... whenever you feel like it! |

You must have some big time tip on this guy.............he's not even the #6 WR at Tennessee on any site that i've seen. Could he possibly be a starter for NFL Europe???? Does Tennessee have a arena football team??? ;)

Not in NFL Europe (too important to send overseas). No Arena League... He was a rookie pick last season... injured most of the season, but was healthy towards the end of the year and actually caught a few passes, but showed great promise, considering where he was on the depth chart. I guess this is more of a "hunch" pickup... but I wanted to get him before he starts ripping things up in training camp next month. I'm going to put him on my DS for the next couple years, and then watch how he breaks into the starting lineup when injuries or age catch up to Kevin Dyson.
I think you'll hear a lot about this guy in the future... but I could be wrong! |

From the Sporting News site...
Justin McCareins - WR, Tennessee Titans May 27, 3:33 p.m. Few players have come as far this offseason as McCareins. He already is the solid No. 3 receiver and also could push Kevin Dyson and Derrick Mason for time. At 6-2 and 215 pounds, McCareins has the best size and speed combo of any Titans receiver. He also runs his routes well and blocks well in the run game. His health is the only question, but he appears recovered from his twice-broken ankle last year. (Jeff Legwold/TSN) Fantasy Spin: This guy is a big-time sleeper candidate. [Nothing like pimping your own players, eh?!] |

Thanks for the heads up Mike... been burned by them in the past? (I sensed a little hostility in that last email, bud!)

Hasn't Dyson only been around about 4 years? Ayie Carumba, and we're already starting the old age count down? |

Well, I guess you're right on the years... but geez, his injury history sure makes it seem like he's been in the league a lot longer!
Now if only "Air" McNair can get the ball downfield... |

I know you all probably get the FBG daily newsletter, but I had to include this to counter Mike's TSN comment. Whether McCareins does anything or not, it's going to be a blast playing in this league!
------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) Justin McCareins Looking for a deeper sleeper? If you believe Nashville Tennessean staffer Jim Wyatt -- and I do, McCareins just might be the guy. In an article published June 15, Wyatt wrote that McCareins used the months of May and June to re-introduce himself to teammates and coaches -- and the second impression was even more eye-opening than his first. Or to quote Wyatt: "He was easily one of the best players on either side of the ball over the past two months." McCareins, who missed the final 12 games last season with an ankle injury, now weighs 218 pounds -- 13 pounds heavier than last year. The extra size and strength is clearly paying off on the field. McCareins said he's spent a lot of time in the weight room. But he's also maintained his speed, which is somewhere around a 4.4. Defensive backs had a tough time against him during the mini-camps. ''I feel more explosive now from some of the things I've worked on. My legs and rear end got a lot stronger and more explosive,'' McCareins said. ''I have always played with a physical style, and I think the added strength and size may give me more of an advantage against smaller defensive backs. ... Getting hurt last year, that was my first time ever being injured so it was hard. But I feel a lot hungrier now than I've ever felt before. I am really excited more than I've ever been to get back into it." McCareins is definitely a guy worth watching this summer.
