The Predators are pleased to announce the signing of future Hall of Fame TE Shannon Sharpe. We understand this is likely his last year in the NFL, and are excited he's chosen the Frenzy's top organization to finish out his career.

Although we addressed the TE position in the draft with the addition of young TE's LJ Smith and Dallas Clark, as an organization we felt we were too close to winning a championship to let a player of Shannon's caliber sign elsewhere. In the end we might have overpaid, however can you really put a price on the veteren leadership and experience Shannon will bring to our TE's of the future and team as a whole? We expect Shannon to tutor LJ and Dallas on the finer points of the position. What better teacher than one of the league's best players at the position?

It is our feeling that Shannon will be the last piece of the puzzle for us to finally get our hands on the elusive frenzy championship we've fell short of the past 2 years. We're confident he'll help us bring home the hardware that somehow slipped out of our hands last December and ended up in the muck in Jersey.
