8B. Franchising

Once a players contract ends, they becomes a free agent, however, teams are allowed to designate up to 1 player as a Franchise Player. Once a team designates a Franchise Player, that player is considered part of their active roster and the tendered salary counts against the teams cap. The Franchised player will receive a salary of the average of the top 10 players at the franchised player's position from the previous year, or a 20% salary increase, whichever is greater.

Ok, on franchising: do we have a listing of these amounts for the designations?

I believe you can manipulate that data with a sort on one of the roster app pages

QB - 1299
RB - 3540
WR - 2014
TE - 860
K - 148

DL - 480
LB - 950
DB - 546

These numbers could change with any cuts between now and April 1st. The Franchise numbers will be based on the final Top 10 contracts for each position at the end of the day on March 31st.

The rules are unclear, but I believe we would declare now for our 2006 franchise players.

Can we "officially" say that the deadline is the same as the RFA's?

Also I believe that people such as Culpepper (IR players) must be thrown back into the active pool when determining these numbers. The listed 'top 10's don't show the IR guys.

The deadline is March 31st. This is a CDL cross-over rule, and that's how we used it there.

OK, I've gone ahead and updated the app with the IR players. These numbers reflect all moves through last night, thus RB's for example may drop a tad with Deuce cut today.

Anyhow, as of last nights rosters, here are the Top 10 averages by position:

QB - 1626
RB - 3570
WR - 2038
TE - 879
K - 162

DL - 480
LB - 950
DB - 678
