OK... Something F'd up happened here.. I bid on Ellis as a D Lineman. I wasn't trying to be sneaky or anything. I was just searching for a DL because I needed one and he was on the DL list. I did check and he is listed as an OLB on depth charts, but I don't beleive that was the case on the site. I wouldn't even have been looking for a linebacker as I am quite heavy at that position. Did someone change him over or did I screw up. As you can see I bid on him as a DL. Please let me know, because I need to remedy this problem quickly. I really don't believe that I screwed up... Pleas let me know..
:BS Late I just went and checked something... He was definately on the DL list.. I was debating between him and Vonnie Holliday, so he had to be on the DL list. I should be able to disqualify this bid and have Carter returned with no penalty. I need this to happen quickly so I can attempt to bid on another player. :BS :BS :BS Last edited by Valencia; October 13th, 2006 at 10:02 AM. |

Not sure what to do and I don't have the power to clear you as I'm only the secretary!
However, I remember reading on FBG that this week MFL updated and switched Ellis from DL to LB this week. SO I'm not sure the procedure is on this. If anything just bid on another player and drop Ellis. If no one wants to help you out the worse you could do is take a 20 cbs cap hit.

If I had a vote (and I don't think I do), I'd say we can allowed the years to be switched back to 1, and you can cut him for the mere 20cb hit.
Sucks for you Valencia, but I don't like the idea of the murky presendence it would set to do anything else. |

OK, a couple of things here.
1st off, I'm just catching up. For those unaware, my county has a declared state of emergency, with over 350,000 people in our county without power... there are downed trees and power lines EVERYWHERE as a result of an unexpected lake effect snow storm with a really heavy snow and trees that caught the snow because for the most part they still had their leaves. Ironically, the snow is mostly gone already, but it wreaked havoc on the infastructure of the power grid, and has even affected water supply since the county lost power at it's main pumping stations. Anyhow, I was without power about 7 hours, but am one of the few lucky ones. Drive a mile away from my house and there is no power in any direction for MILES! Anyhow, my brief reseach in the Ellis situation supports Brett's claim. According to MFL's support board, they made a positional switch on the evening of the 10th, morning of the 11th. Brett's bid was on the afternoon of the 10th, when Ellis was clearly listed as a DL. I haven't had a chance to look at the SACD rules on positional changes, but I seem to recall players not switching mid season. Pending some research there, I see 2 options. Either cut Brett a break and void the claim and subsequent cut since this is NOT his error or fault, or manually change Ellis back to a DL.

I understand that every site now has him listed as LB... The point is.. When did this happen?
The change happened this week... When?? That is the question in my view. I searched NFL.com when I was researching and he was at the DL position on Tuesday. The bid completed at 3:14pm est on Wednesday. I did not recheck position at that point... All I know is that he was slated as the #1 D-Lineman for the week on the site I use. I don't know if that will even make a difference in the end. I am working on a tight budget as it is... so, this does make a difference for my team. $20 can make a big deal in some cases. I searched the rules and can't find anything about positional changes... I think I am screwed, but this is a rule that needs to be looked at. Again, according to MFL's support board, they made the position change Tuesday night... the evening AFTER Brett made his bid.
IMO Ellis should either be SOLD as a DL, or we should void the bid and retract the cut, because IMO, in this case, Brett is not at fault in any way. He bid on a player that was listed as a DL, the position switch in the middle of the bid period is pretty unfair.

Because the positional change actually happened in the 24 hours between Valencia first placing the bid and then winning the bid, I believe he should be able to void the acquisition. This is a highly unusual situation, so I'm not that worried about it setting bad precedent.

A little late in reading through this, but I think this is a valid void, and sets a precedence that if a players position is changed between the time the bid is initially made, and the time the bid is won, than the bidder should be allowed to void the bid without a cap hit. That should be the only circumstance.
Good call.
