Insects Signs RB 2 Weeks Before Draft Begins

BAY AREA, CA - The Bay Area Blooduscking Insects have reached a contract agreement that will make RB Darren McFadden the 1st overall pick in the 2008 Freeding Frenzy Draft. The deal reached a record breaking 2 weeks before the start of the draft will guarantee McFadden $2931cbs over 5 years, with numerous performance bonuses that could increase the value of the contract.

When asked why the Insects zeroed into McFadden, GM Frank Alonzo said, "He's pretty fast," he dead pans, Alonzo continues, "Aside from his speed... we saw a player who LOVES to play football. You're talking about a guy who can throw TD passes, can catch TDs passes, can set someone else up for a TD with his blocking, oh and not to mention he can run for TD passes. He's the premier playmaker in the draft with an unreal size-speed ratio. He's similiar to LT or reaching way back Marcus Allen in the way that he's a TD machine. We just had to lock him up."

The draft continues a major overhaul of the Insects team after trading away Jacobs, Dunn, Ward, Donald Driver and the 1.6 pick for young speedster Maurice Jones-Drew, stud WR Anquan Boldin, and the Insects former 1st round pick Kellen Winslow. In the Off-season the also signed WR Reggie Wayne to a 2300 cb deal, while retaining most of their RFA.

Regarding his new team and contract RB Darren McFadden said, "Oh man, we're going to be explosive with MJD in the backfield and Wayne and Joey going deep, with Boldin and Winslow working the middle! I can't wait to start playing and winning some games. We're gonna go from worst to first, man,"

When asked about his thoughts on the off-season GM Frank Alonzo said, "We're not done yet. We got younger AND better this off-season we still have the 3rd overall pick in the draft and enough cap space to sign a player or two in FA. We're going to be great and great for a long time to come.... just like Darren will be."

The Insects hope that McFadden's speed will vault them from worst to first faster than he can take one to the house. If he can they'll be major contenders this year.

I won't at all be surprised if DMC ends up in jail (or shot or something crazy) withn 5 years. He's got 2 brothers that are gangbangers in RIVAL gangs! Then gets drafted into Oakland of all places!

He can't control the actions of others. So the further away from his brothers the better.

From his interviews he sounds like a decent guy.... he took care of two kids without even knowing if they were his.... only to find out one of them isn't. Seems like a pretty honorable guy to me.

In a lesser known development McFadden announced his first endorsement contract.

Not many guys could pull off pimping EPT but apparently being offered a lifetime supply got him to sign on.

Also, does this mean we are "on" in the Frenzy?

Fair enough. To be honest I think I would have waited on the very off chance he gets injured at a mini-camp or something. Otherwise, I think we all figured that this would be 1.1. Best wishes with him (both in FF and NFL action).

His brothers, family and friends can however bring him down (see Mike Vick). Especially with all the money he's going to be bringing in.

I just don't see a good long term ending for him unless he completely cuts his family off.

There's a great article in a recent SPORTS ILLUSTRATED about McFadden (the NFL draft preview issue). He spoke quite openly about his brothers... and indeed has begun to distance himself from them, completely. Whether it will stick that way remains to be seen. But it's worth a read. It's too easy to make judgements on people whose lives we only know a little about.
