Preceeding the draft, the Preds and the Amish strike another deal. Both managers had some heafty swings but in the end both teams stand with better situations.
Preds gets rid of a QB while starting Palmer and Leinart lurking in the weeds. He also picks up a solid top 5 TE in Winslow. Amish gets a QB in Eli (will he have the bros on the same team??) while dumping some salary and preparing for the draft by opening up some TS space. Final Trade Amish gives up Kellen Winslow - TE CLE Anthony Fasano - TE DAL Eric Johnson - TE NOS 2008 - 2nd round pick (The higher between Amish Rake Fighters and Bay Area Insects based on a previous trade) Preds gives up Eli Manning - QB - NYG Heath Miller - TE - PIT Frenzy - It's CRAZY action!!! This is a boom or bust deal for me. Everyone knows how I drafted Eli despite HATING him, I drafted him solely because of value, so I'm glad to be rid of him. That said, I really liked Miller, who exploded nearly every time I started him, but you've got to give to get.
Moving Eli got me 2 active roster positions for less cap, and both have the potential to be great (Johnson now with Brees, KWII top 4 last year) or complete busts (KWII had microfracture surgery this off-season, EJ is perrenally injured). Fasano is no more than a complete reach, but he did show some potential, and is worth stashing on the TS for the moment. I wanted back my 2.5, but Joel is focused on this draft, so I had to take next years 2nd. Leinart now has a great opportunity to move up as my QB2, unless I work something else. Stay tuned!

So this trade is now:
Preds get: Kellen Winslow - TE CLE Anthony Fasano - TE DAL Eric Johnson - TE NOS 2008 - 2nd round pick (The higher between Amish Rake Fighters and Bay Area Insects based on a previous trade) Amish get: Heath Miller - TE - PIT So much for the salary dump by the Amish. |
