I believe this cut would have been OK...see rule below:
6B. Roster Minimums Beginning with the 1st day of In-Season Free Agency, each team must maintain a minimum of 13 Offensive Players (IOP's) and 9 Defensive Players (IDP's) on their Active Roster. The 13 IOP and 9 IDP's can be any mix of positions within either side of the ball, as long as you have at least 13 on offense and 9 on defense. During the off-season(which commences after the Super Bowl, teams are allowed to be below these minimums. Any move that places you under the 13 IOP / 9 IDP roster minimums without a move to get back to the required minimum within 24 hours will result in a permanent 250cb fine PER INFRACTION, as well as an additional 250cb temporary hold on your cap until you reach the required minimums for both sides of the ball. Again, these penalties are PER INFRACTION! |

Ah...missed that...a mute point now, since I already made the necessary cuts, but I will keep that in the back of my mind for the future...thanks Pat

actually i didn't look into it until Shader's recent drop of Bart Scott sent him under the active IDP minimum. i was initially going to send him the rule...but once i read it, i thought i'd post it for you instead

As long as I promote someone before free agency, then, I'll be fine..correct?

Shader, you were fine. We are in the off-season so you can be below the minimums. I just posted it here for Burt, since he was going to cut J.Brown but thought he had to maintain the minimum roster, when he really didn't need to. |
