Roster App and Draft Tracker overhauled to reflect all the Rule changes

Rather than have this hang over my head over the weekend while I'm camping, I decided to bite the bullet and knock out the updates for both the Roster App and the Draft Tracker. At least this way I can definately leave my laptop at home and out of the mud!

I think you will all be very pleased !

The Draft Tracker has a couple new pages to help you track the incentive rookie contracts and the top 20 by position each year.

The Roster app has a new summary page that tracks the RFA and UFA's for each team and is linked to the activity on each team page. Here you'll find a 1 page update of each RFA's tender, what they sold for, who they sold to, whether it was matched, and what compensation was granted if he wasn't. I think you'll love this tool.

All of the above info is also on each team page.

All of the rookie contracts have been rolled back to reflect the new incentive base scale.

All grandfathered contracts are indicated as such by a G proceeding anything in the Flag column.

Of course there are also the new pruple columns to show the cap hit info for players released with multiple years left on their contracts as well.

Anyhow, if you notice any errors let me know. I already know of one I'll fix with the next update... Doug Jolley of the Insects was released and resigned as a FA, so I shouldn't have adjusted his salary. I'll fix that next time I do an update.

Great work on the Roster App. I love the RFA's & UFA's page. Right now its broken down by team. Is there anyway we can sort it by position? I mean all UFA RBs grouped together, UFA QBs, etc etc. I'm not sure how feasible it is but you'll know better than me. Thanks for all the great work!

I can do that fairly easily. I'll incorporate it into the next app update. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've survived my recent camping trip (wasn't TOO cold, about 38 degrees ;)) and wound down this afternoon by making some big improvements on the Roster App RFA and UFA tracking pages.

Both RFA and UFA tracker pages have been improved. The RFA and UFA (by Team) page now shows each teams # of players under contract and their current available cap $'s. Further, any player cut during the 2003 soft cap period (that wasn't re-signed) is now listed as a UFA.

The RFA and UFA (by Position) page now shows the team that holds the players rights, how many players that team has under contract, and how many cap $'s they have available NEXT TO each player name. Further, any player cut during the 2003 soft cap period (that wasn't re-signed) is now listed as a UFA.

Both pages are sorted by player name (unfortunately the players 1st name but thats close enough).

I think reveryone will get some good use off these pages for both planning and participating in the upcoming RFA and UFA periods.

Okay... now that I've gotten the butt-kissing out of the way :WinkKiss ... I was looking at my team roster, and noticed that the soft cap releases we've done prior have a 2004 and 2005 cap hit on them. Is this how we've always done it? Weren't most of those cuts made during the 2003 season, which meant they would be hard cap cuts? Which meant there shouldn't be any 04 or 05 cap implications? Or am I getting things confused?

I'd understand if I released someone now, while we're still in the soft-cap category... that it would be spread over 04/05... but not players that were released LAST season, right?

OOPS! lol...

I corrected that formula error a couple versions back, in fact if you check the other team pages it's calculating correctly... somehow I forgot about your team though Jim! Sorry bout that. I'll get it correct now and a new version will be on the site within 30 minutes.

And to answer your basic question, players released during the current soft cap period that began November 1, 2003 and ends March 31, 2004 will have their cap hit divided in half with 10% (plus any applicable signing bonus) counting against the 2003 season and 10% (plus any applicable signing bonus) against 2004.

Beginning April 1st, and running through October 31, 2004, the cap hit will be a hard 20% cap hit (plus any applicable signing bonus) against your 2004 cap.

When November 1, 2004 rolls around we will again enter the soft cap period, and the cap hit for releasing players will be divided in half with 10% (plus any applicable signing bonus) counting against the 2004 season and 10% (plus any applicable signing bonus) against 2005.
