And I wish you the best in getting a stud RB... you're actually forcing a difficult decision for many owners. I'm sure many were hoping their guys wouldn't be bid up too much from the $2K tender price. If you get too many studs, I'd be happy to talk trade with you... AFTER the allotted "no trading RFA" period ends (maybe we can get something in place before then, just not "finalize" it!). :shadesoff |

Hey, I know how you feel, I've had cap issues myself. Ever since I took over the Waste. I had Owens and Toomer combining for 4000 cb's last year. Wew...that's the last time I'm investing so much into a couple of studs that's for sure.

I don't think the Insects killed the RFA period at all, personally I think it's one of the most strategic and intriuging RFA periods in Frenzy history. I'm loving the strategy options. Phenonmenal IMO. |

Yep I can't wait until a couple more days when this all sorts itself out.
Until then I can work on my strengthing my possible arugment for "collusion" if I am stuck with all the RBs!;)

All I know is the logic here dictates that there may be a strategic play in taking the picks and letting the RFA's go, with at least 2 of them cut and then accessible via the UFA market! ;) |

Frank, you're trying too hard. Your strategy is sound. Just go with it.
![]() PS - if you're really worried that the tendering franchises are going to benefit from these "low" bids then you can always up them yourself since you're so sure they will be matched. ;) |

Not sure what effect the Insects have had but so far of the 32 players available less then half (15) have been bid on.
Of those 15 who knows how many will be matched? Not sure if we have any historical numbers to go by (or if they would even apply in this crazy year). |

Actually I don't know if the number matched will grow much. The way I see it the compensation picks are almost worthless. In most cases the RFAs are proven players who have shown they are Fantasy starters, where as, the comp picks will be used to snag rookie busts, players who may not even see the light of day.
I'm thinking maybe 4 1st Round Comps, 2 or 3 2nd Round comps, and 4 3rd round, and 1 4th Round. As a whole is the 2nd round comps will be like 3rd Rounders, and we know how many productive players we've picked from there, the 3rd rounders are almost worthless, and the 4th round pick is almost like a 6th. So I don't think we'll see compensation play a factor in the decision to match an RFAs. The decision will be based on if the owner finds the players to be of value (the stud RBs), with the comp picks serving as just a bonus.

In fact based on one website (I know that everyone has different opinions but for the sake of responding) there are 15 offensive skill position players that they see in this year draft with first round value. This breaks down as: QB’s (3) RB’s (2) WR’s (7) TE’s (3) While not everyone would agree about the numbers it is likely that this year there could be a bit of value in the compensatory picks. Is it enough value to forgo resigning a stud? That I guess is what are all interested in seeing. BTW- Mike your point about a replacement player makes a good bit of sense as well. |

I see that but really, you would not consider letting Ward go unless his price became "unreasonable" or equalt to another "unreasonable" player you have the high bid on.
Price is the main deciding factor, the picks are just bonus as you just illustrated. If Ward is 500 dollars less than TO, you'd probably keep Ward. If Ward rose to TOs "unreasonable" price range then you'd hopefully take the 1st round comp and TO. If Horn is selling less than Ward, you'd be inclined to take Horn and the pick. No matter how you spin it it's still based on the price, maybe my first statement was flaVVed but I can say that, the only time the compensation picks will come into play on a decision is when there is a player less than or equal to the price of one of your RFAs.

There is a very real possibility that I may not match any of my RFA's... of course I could be stating falsehoods, or I may just be telling the truth. Thats the beauty of the new RFA process, I absolutely LOVE it ;)! |

I took a look at your cap Frank. If I decline to match both RW and SA you're pretty screwed..........Even if you dont match McNair and Eddie you'd still need to trade or cut your current roster to get below the cap. Ouch. What were you thinking?

That's an awful risky gamble.......
For those keeping score at home: RW = 3,000 LT2 = 2,850 Does....................not....................... compute................................ Did someone overbid? |

Can be done, already have my cuts in place if I do get these two.
I'd be willing to sit on them and take the cap hit, until I can trade them.

Frank is now in a tough situation, and I feel for him to a degree, but I have to say, his ballsy moves on the opening day of the RFA period has made this the most entertaining, intruiging, and fun RFA periods in league history!
