updated tallies...

Note: Only the Valencia Vibe have mandatory nominations left. Once they finish their last 2 nominations, we need to discuss endint the vet auction and transforming things into the traditional off-season (i.e. 48 hour clock, etc.). Personally, I like the 2 player max nominations per team at any 1 time, I'd like to see that stay throughout the off-season.

Pat Tillman Memorial Division
* Buffalo Pitbulls (Preds) - 16 IOP's, 10 IDP's
* Jawbone Hill (randilover) - 16 IOP's, 10 IDP's
* Glenside Gunslingers (Freedom) - 17 IOP's, 9 IDP's Has the option to nominate up to 2 players (either IOP or IDP)
* Subzero (Keepers) - 11 IOP's, 13 IDP's

Derrick Thomas Memorial Division
* Bloomington Eco Warriors (Mutts) - 10 IOP's, 10 IDP's
* Chagrin Falls DMKM Snow Goons (Rami) - 10 IOP's, 10 IDP's Has the option to nominate a player (either IOP or IDP)
* Disciples of the 36 Chambers (Swords) - 12 IOP's, 8 IDP's
* Good Grief (Skippy) - 13 IOP's, 8 IDP's Has the option to nominate a player (either IOP or IDP)

Reggie White Memorial Division
* Bay Area Bloodsuckers (FLAxWLESS) - 13 IOP's, 11 IDP's
* Falcon Floyds (Burt) - 14 IOP's, 12 IDP's
* Maplewood Mountain Lions (Dodgers) - 11 IOP's, 9 IDP's Has the option to nominate a player (either IOP or IDP)
Valencia Vibe (Valencia) - 10 IOP's, 8 IDP's

* Minimum 20 Nominations Met. May continue to Nominate up to 2 players at a time (either IOP or IDP), but are not obligated to do so.

This is a point we need to discuss.

IMO, after Valenica's 20th guy sells, then the Vet Auction is closed. We then shift into the stnadard Off-Season Free Agency period, which has a 48 hour window on sales for Sun-Thurs bids, and 72 hours for Fri/Sat bids.

I would suggest that we retain the max 2 players nominated per team, though the rules don't specify that (I think we should ammend the rules in SACD and the Frenzy to reflect a 2 player max to prevent the market being flooded).

I disagree.

Say a team wants to pick up a kicker or something for a bye week. They throw out a player, and that player gets bumped, then bumped again for the min, then bumped, etc. The same could happen for a second player they throw out. They should be able to nominate as many players as it takes to be able to get one to fill a need. Maybe we want to have some limit, but it certainly needs to be bigger than 2.

BTW, Skip and I were chatting, we discussed locking all future nominations at the moment the Vib's 20th player sells, thus allowing all remaining players on the market to sell (with normal bidding rules still allowed), before transitioning into the Off-Season UFA period.

Also, I think restriciting teams to a max of 2 noms at any point year round makes sense on a lot of angles. First, it makes tracking the open market much easier for everybody, with a max of 24 players on the market at any 1 time. Second, it makes updating the app and the website much easier for Frank and I, third, it puts more strategy in the nomination process (knowing that if you nominate 2 guys, you won't be able to nominate a 3rd until one of them sells, so if you need a player, then be smart with your noms), finally, it also keeps teams from flooding the market with numerous bids in hope of a player or players getting lost in the flood and sliding through. The negative to this, is that teams could, and probably wioll, shaft other teams by keeping their bids in play and keeping them from piocking up a bye week player, but if/when this happens, I'm sure paybacks will be a bitch. I'd like some input on this idea however, bsides my own.

:agree ..I think there is added strategy to being able to flood the market. I would prefer there be no limits.

I agree that that's the one negative to the 2 player max, a point I made in my previous post which I was writing before you posted.

Once again, I think there is as much strategy in being able to flood the market. One, the flooder may get stuck with mulitple players that were only put out there as a smoke screen to get the guy he really wants. Two, the person who is only trying to drive up prices has to think twice about doing so. Which is why you like the 2 nom limit, eh preds.

In a short while, there's not going to be enough talent for one team to flood the market. Right now there are a bunch of players left, but look at the Frenzy, a mature version of this league. If I want to flood the market there, can I? I think there is one active bidding thread right now. During the season it picks up when the Reuben Droughns come out of the woodwork, but there are rarely times where there is so much activity that "flood" would be an appropriate term. Plus, if teams throw a bunch of players out there, they have to be upped by other teams, or else the bid stands, and teams have to make room. I'd prefer to see a higher, or no limit on noms.

Granted, we aren't talking impact players so much, and this year probably not as big a deal. But in future years, I like the ability to nominate as many players as I want. In CDL, if I am trying to get a crappy second kicker cheap, I nominate a player at minimum 1 mil and within hours he is up to 1.5 mil, I will nominate another crappy kicker at 1 mil. If within hours, he is up to 1.5 mil, I like having the ability to nominate another crappy 1mil PK instead of having to wait 48 hours to do so. Just one example of why I would prefer unlimited.

I would agree with Dodgers and Burt. I understand the rationale behind the limitation of 2 nominations, but I do not foresee an issue. If someone chooses to do it, they will have a cost to that action - as Dodgers stated.

In regards to the 'locking' of the auction after the last bid, I agree. Does the rules committee need to talk about changing the rules?

We don't see the flooding happening in CDL and we dont have this restriction.

I do not see the benefit of locking it down.

So the rest of us can continue to nominate players until Valencia's final bid sells?

I concede... we'll stick with no limits.

It's really the biggest problem at the opening of the UFA period each year, then I agree, it's not as big an issue.

But when June 1 hits each year inthe Frenzy, some guys throw 10-15 players out there to flood the market and get players to slide through.

So make him take all 15 players and see what happens then....

I would disagree with unlimited nom's. If this was August 15th, I might change that, but it's early July. There is no reason to have this in place at this point, as if you put 2 guys out there, there is no reason why you will not have the ability and opportunity to put another one soon enough.

Also, At this point, there is little left in cap room, so I am not sure how much people will be able to "bid up" some one that they know another team is going after. I don't really see the point in unlimited bids, at this point. Maybe it can be changed for the start of the season, etc.

But that is part of the added strategy..if someone only has 500CB left, and they throw out 8 players at 100cb each and ends up with all of them, then they have to now make cuts....the cap is the restrictor here, or the roster limits....I don't really see it being an issue.
