Once I (unexpectedly) won RFA WR Steve Smith, I knew that Frank's time on the Opihi squad was numbered. He's served us well, but his age (and price tag) have made him expendable. Granted, his salary this year is less than it was last (and rightly so)... and I was only going to tender him a one year contract... I still knew that if I was going to fill out my squad with any decent depth, I was going to have to let him go.
Securing a potential top 5 RB (PPR scoring) like Sproles makes this decision a no-brainer. Had the bidding gone above 1600, then I probably wouldn't have continued. Sproles will get a multi-year contract with the OPIHI. This is a good day for our organization... especially with the off-season acquisition of Mark Ingram. |

If Gore was on a cheaper contract I might understand, but he's already at or above what his going rate would be on the open market (IMO). I know it guarantees Matt a RB he sorely needs, but I would have waited till he became a UFA and bid up to the same 2150 on him if necessary, though I'd wager he'd go between for under 2000cb's, particularly in light of how few cb dollars are remaining out there.

![]() Point taken (though I highly doubt Matt would consider himself part of a posse, particularly mine)!
