There is no IR until after the declaration deadline .. when the first injury reports come out. I got caught in this trap last year where I had to carry Moeaki on my Active Roster until after declarations and then put him on IR..

Thanks for the heads up but that sounds different than what Burt posted in the SAC'd thread. Can Burt or Jim weigh in here is the way Burt posted in makes sense to me but I want to make sure I don't have an issue as I will be away for about 10 days and don't want to incur and any penalities if I can help it.

I know players who are put on IR, are NOT listed on the weekly Injury report, so that is mostly used for those players who are listed in the other categories we qualify for IR. I will need to do some research, but would think guys like Rashard Mendenhall can be put on IR as soon as it opens. I know that I was able to do this with Kellen Winslow the year he tore his knee up on his motorcycle.

I don't think there was a "decision" per-se.. but that is just how the rule is written, which is what you confirmed when I inquired about it last year:
"By the start of the next rookie draft, each franchise must clear IR and have no more than thirty players on their roster." "The 1st available date to list a player on IR is around August 30 at 12:00am - this will be a flexible date each year that basically commences the day after the 3rd pre-season games end (4th for the few teams that play 5). This will be approximately 7-10 days before the NFL regular season kicks off" Which is the same wording as the deadline for decalarations: "The deadline for the announcement of the length of the contracts of players picked up in free agency or the rookie draft will be August 30th (the day after (Tuesday) the 3rd preseason game for most teams) each year by midnight (the night before the start of the In-Season Free Agency period which begins on August 31 each NFL season)." So the effect is that if you have an injured player you don't want to cut you have to carry him on your roster through declarations and then put him on IR.

Sorry the IR piece was a cutting and pasting error as I don't have Britt and Starks was going to stay on the Taxi Squad for now.

OK, I wasn't disputing that...so we're good...you are correct on that point...but after IR opens, a player who is currently on PUP or IR can be placed there...but only after declarations are made, exactly...

But doesn't IR opens (12:00AM) 23 hours and 59 minutes before declarations are due (11:59PM)...so wouldn't a player currently on PUP or IR be eligible to be placed on IR before declarations are due?
Actually, see this tread and post there http://predsff.com/forums/showthread...976#post105976

Please go to this thread to continue discussion, and we can leave Matt's declarations alone...

Matt, you did not draft Broyles in SAC'd, maybe Frenzy?
I'll assume you meant to put Ronnie Hillman there at 4 years?
