2014 Rookie Draft REVISION

I know it's easy to just gloss over the plethora of posts that Mike & Burt put out on various topics... so in case you aren't following this thread, let me ask it here...

Is everyone available to start our 2014 ROOKIE DRAFT on Wednesday, May 21st (12:01am EST)? It's not quite the lead period that our rules dictate... but with Mr. World Traveler (aka Mike) coming to the islands to spy on the Opihi's headquarters, it would allow us 8 full days before his trip.

I'm make this a poll... so we know who's voted & who hasn't. Mahalo!

What happened to the joint spring practices between the Preds and Opihi? Sure I'll be hiking the mountains, but fully expect the team to break a sweat stomping on some Opihi over the 10 days we're visiting the islands.

Back on topic, I'd suggest starting 2 days earlier on Monday 5/19. Still gives 2 weekends to digest the NFL draft.

We are pretty long winded and opinionated - plus I love this time of year!
FF gets going full blown...baseball is well under way....weather is getting nice, so more time on the patio enjoying the sweet Colorado climate..

Bowing to the "champs" demands has nothing to do with it. It's giving the "experts" time to post their best guesses for our consumption. it's a little late now but if we aren't going to give time for that to happen we should just have our draft before the NFL draft. That would be fun. We could just pick who we think the best players are and hope they go to good locations.

Last years draft took 18 days. Using that as a guide looks like "the champs" plans will take place during the draft regardless of those start dates. Am I missing something here?

If you guys are going to have a JOINT practice you should come to Colorado and do it right

I could amend the poll to add an option for a June 10 start... If we go with the earlier start, I'm assuming that Mike will have to leave a draft list or position priority list with someone. Everyone has a 24 hour window for their pick... so we could try to get "in port" phone service with Mike, should he be okay with starting earlier.

What's your suggestion, Bobby?

I'm ok with either date and for Mike to leave a pick priority list with someone if he is out of touch. Repeating should have some obstacles in the way.

If we can get past the first round or 2 I'll figure out a way to contact Burt or Jim for rounds 3 and 4, or just miss the picks and pick when I get back. I would think we can knock off the 1st couple rounds (or at least be within striking distance of my 2.15 comp pick) before 5/29. Those are the most important picks to get through.

As for obstacles to repeat, there are currently at least 11 obstacles in the road!
