MFL shows Dale as 16 having QB/RB/WR's as well, 3 over the limit.

Unfortunately yes, though I'd be open to a league vote to eliminate the difficult to keep track of rule, though it'd have to be unanimous.

Seeing as Dale is a longtime leaguemate, and helps a ton with the MFL site, I'd be open to discussing a less harsh penalty (maybe some cbs) but give him a one-time pass for the brainfart to make the appropriate cuts ASAP without losing the 3 players involved.

I'll message Jim to alert him to the issue and make a call.

Wow. well... the rules are pretty clear. If the league is willing to lessen the penalty, I'll give him 24 hours to get in compliance. We can work out a CB hit.

Think we might have support to eliminate the rule? Even if not unanimous we could still eliminate the rule for 2018.

The rule was added when we expanded rosters 2 slots and 500cbs well over a decade ago so teams had space to roster backup TEs/Ks & D's. TE's these days often merit WR salaries, and team budgets long ago adjusted to the extra 500cbs.

I know it keeps teams from stashing too many skill position players, but still would support eliminating it, heck often teams are carrying 3 or more TE's anyhow.

It should be noted that Dale texted me AFTER I mentioned being lenient that it's OK his fault and he's not looking for leniency.

Regardless I think the rule should be amended for 2018 personally.

Allowing 48-72 hours to get in compliance with roster limits during the off-season would be a separate vote. I'd support this idea as well.

The league is complex enough, let's not take all the fun out of it!

Agreed. Can someone post a poll to change to 48 hours (or 72) in off season instead of 24 hours? I'm sure we could get everyone in for a quick vote. I'd set it up if I weren't typing on my phone

Polls posted, even if not unanimous good rule changes for 2018 IMO so hoping for at least a majority for changing both rules.

Poll 1 - Eliminate the rule requiring 5 roster slots for TE/K/DT

Poll 2 - Extend off-season roster compliance period to 48/72 hours

Forte returned to UFA status and roster penalties assessed.

Even if the resulting rule proposals pass unanimously, these penalties will still apply as they occurred prior to the proposals.

Penalties have been applied as per rules, but yes, now he will be active in other bids as a result most likely. Is what it is.
