Lets try to keep any commentary on the bidding in this thread and outside the actual bidding threads themselves (unless the post contains a bid).
Anyone suprised to see Tom Brady being the 1st to get some action?:wow |

Hmm, Terrell Owens opening up at 1800 is somewhat of a surprise... I'm willing to bet that Jersey lets him go at the figure. Very interesting Jake!

Is is a good or bad thing that all 3 of my RFAs are bid within hours of RFA starting?

, it appears the Insects have taken on my strategy of years past by flooding the market with bids on many stud players at a time. The problem is, unlike in years past where the bids could open much lower, they've bid significant amounts on all 4 stud RB's.... numbers where I could see all 4 players potentially not get matched. The Insects 5 opening bids total up to a cap breaking $11,500 cb's! Can you imagine the havoc they'll face if we all let our players slide, take the compensation, and force the Insects to release some of them as UFA's and take significant cap hits in the process! Considering the Insects are only 4300 cb's under the cap (5800 if they don't match their own RFA's) they could be looking at having to cut a minimum of 4800 cb's if they won and got each player they bid on, meaning they'd have to cut at least 2 of the big 4 RB's they bid on (likely 3), and in the process potentially looking at 1000+ cb's in cap penalties! With the new system in play and the much larger opening bids I think the Insects have taken a SIGNIFICANT risk. |

Interesting as it looks like only four teams have placed bids so far. The Insects seem to be taking a Yankees like approach here (except for our pesky salary cap) with the hopes that others might jump in with them.
I am guessing we will see the action pick up as more people get to work and check in. |

I think those pesky Insects might find themselves in some cap trouble with all those high RB bids. More ballsy than I expected anyone to be...but then again this is my first go-around with RFAs in fantasy football so what do I know.

OK everyone, don't bid on any of these rb's and we can all bid on them later after the insects have to cut 2 or 3 of them to actually field a team and come under the cap...lol

Well... it's almost 9am here in the islands... I woke up this morning with the idea that I was going to pick myself a new starting RB. But the Insects have pretty much priced me out of the top 4...
Guess I'll just have to sit back and watch for a while. |

Are you guys really going to give me all those RBs? OH yeah!
But with people like Undead having nearly 8000cbs to play with I doubt that. At least I'm guranteed a stud RB. I hope. Plus STUD RBs have gone for way more over the past years and that's when were were all handicapped by large rookie contracts, so I'll be suprised if any of these RBs are not raised to 3000 or not matched by their old team. COnsidering the avaible cap on the Roster App is counting the TEAMS RFA's at the tendered price: When the Swords match Ahman Green for 2800, they'll still have about 3000cbs to play with. LT was only raised 850cbs, leaving Mike with 1400 to play with, and he also has 11 players on the active roster. He was expecting LT to hit 3000cbs so I don't see why he wouldn't match. Ricky Williams is at 3000cbs, a difference of 1000, and ALexander is at 2750, a difference of 750, so off his cap he's losing only 1750 leaving him at 1700cbs to play with, however considering he only has 4 players on active roster he maybe be forced at picking between Shuan and Ricky. So I'm not threatened by the talk of no one raising the bids because I KNOW they will be raised some more AND that the clubs will still match them. Plus, all this talk about not re-upping the bids? WHo does it really help? The franchieses who tagged them. I'm sure all of them would match at the current prices.

The RFA period is a tricky mistress... proceed with caution (at least that's what I've learned)... or you just might get burned!

I have to agree with the Mutts here. This year is different with the compensation factor. I am not sure that all will pass but some may be willing...

That is fine with me, but I highly doubt ALL of the RBs will not be matched. We've already proven how hard it is to find a STUD RB in the draft by REDOING our original rookie contract system.
Also I doubt picking at 1.13-1.15 is really that much of a compensation for losing a stud RB. If we've only produced a couple of STUD RBs from the TOP of the draft, how likely are you guys going to find that production at basically 2nd round picks? Also do you guys not see? The no bidding, only helps the franchises that TAGGED them. So stop you threats and bow to my genius!

the stud RB's will be out there after you have to cut one or two in order to get under the cap. That's when I plan on going after my stud rb...and that's in what 3 days or so.

Okay well think about this: After I cut them they will be UFAs, meaning that everyone will bid on them and I'm pretty sure the prices then will be around teh opening bids I have placed.
But they won't even reach that far, I pretty sure the Franchises wont risk losing their stud RBs.

My bad, confused you with the Wastes who apprently believe these stud RBs won't be matched by the current franchises at their current prices.
I doubt they'll keep TO giving them roughly 8000cbs to play with. But since his roster is in such great shape and he has such a solid RB stable with Green/Suggs, Staley, and Forsey he's just going to sit tight on his money AND wish that the other franchises risk losing their RBs for 2nd round picks and the oppourtunity to put me in cap hell. Why would anyone not raise a measley 50cbs like BDSC did on Tomlinson, since you are all so sure that the prices I tendered are so high and that their respective franchises will not keep them. Like I said, I'm not worried. The reason I keep replying is because the ONLY people you are helping by not bidding is the TENDERING FRANCHISES. Think about it, screw me fine? But by bidding you could affect 3 or 4 other franchises. If it weren't for that fact, then I would just keep my mouth shut and watch as I get a stud RB and the others are matched by their franchises.

Just some compensation thought:
Players taken at 2.1-2.3 (equivilant of 1.13-1.15) in 2002 2.1 WR Josh Reed 2.2 WR Javon Walker 2.3 RB Johnathan Wells Notable players taken afterwards: Brian Westbrook, Patrick Ramsey PLayers taken at 2003: 2.1 Aquan Boldin 2.2 Musa Smith 2.3 Tyrone Calico Notables afterwards: Lee Suggs, Quienten Griffin, Rex Grossman, Dallas Clark So like I said I don't believe the 1st Round compensation is enough for the owners to risk losing their Franchise RBs in UFA. By then everyone will be saving cap space and true bidding wars will go on. Why not skip all the uncertainties and match these contracts where each has ample cap room. And why is Marvin Harrison selling near 2.5k, when the guy finished 6th last year when he was outproduced by Ward and Holt at nearly half the salary, and Johnson and Boldin who earn around 1/4th less? You guys are crazy! And people talking about not touching RBs selling for 400cbs more than Harrison? This league is truly going crazy.
