Default Re: IDP's - should we consider taking the Frenzy to the next level for 2006?

I bet you'd find an equal love over time lol.

Seriously, think I should post a message to the board and start recruiting. I love the Frenzy rules as a base (though we could maybe incorporate some of the CDL's features like extending contracts and franchise tags as well)... overall though, I'd be ecstatic with an IDP componant to the Frenzy rule-set.

Interested in the new Frenzy IDP for 2005 thus far would be:

Pat
Matt (plus a friend)
Brian
myself

who else?

Or should we keep working this as a Frenzy proposal for 2006?

I like this as a spin off. Despite the fact I like the idea, I do have concerns of upsetting the apple cart. Since Jim is already voices something less than enthusiasm, I say we spin it off.

Edited to add, "more rules to tinker with? Yeah!"

K, I'm completely cool with that, lets start getting thoughts together. I'll create a forum for doiscussion tonight.

Working name (for now at least) will be Frenzy IDP

Ooooohhhh, sounds interesting. More to keep me occupied, never did a IDP league before.

If we have/had even just one team vastly opposed I'd say it should be tabled.

If that does turn out to be the case, I'd be open to creating a new league based on what we've done in the Frenzy that incorporates IDP's and invite and and all willing members from this board (or wherever) to give IDP a shot. I'll call it Frenzy Too, or Frenzy IDP or something lol. Seriously, if some owners are opposed I see no reason to change the status quo when instead I could just start one from the ground up and keep the Frenzy the great league it already is.
Now your talking. I'd be very interested in being involved with a Frenzy IDP league - my initial concern was for those that don't necessarily have the extra time to invest. We've lost at least an owner or two in the past because of time constraints, I sure don't want to see it happen again because of format changes.

So, I'm on board for a Frenzy spin-off IDP league. To address Brian's point about the "greatness" of the Frenzy - I agree we are one of the best leagues around and we should continue to work hard to maintain that edge. If we go ahead with the spin-off idea, I would like to see as much cinergy between the leagues as possible. Having the same board of directors overseeing both leagues might be a possibility...? We could expand the board to 5 people, define responsibilities a little more specifically, etc. Just a thought.

Agree with everything you said (especially trying to keep the same committee plus a member or 2), although I do think we might want to consider some concepts the Frenzy has been hesitant to incorporate (Franchise Tags, and maybe even contract extensions, of which the CDL has both and the CDL's rules add a very cool set of variables to encourage trading).
