Default TRADE ANNOUNCEMENT-Gardner is a Wondermutt, the Insects improve draft positions

In a move to bolster the future of our WR stable, the WonderMutts have agreed to terms with the Insects.

WonderMutts send Jerry Rice, Willie Jackson, pick 1.7 and pick 2.7 to the Insects.

Insects send Rod Gardner, pick 1.12 and pick 2.12 to the Mutts.

Hmm, seemed like the Mutts paid quite a bit for an unproven guy under a 1 year contract w/no QB to get him the ball.

On the surface I like what the Insects gain here, but I have a feeling the Mutts are targeting a few key UFA's and this deal makes roster space for them.

Interesting deal, esp for the cap challenged Insects.

Default Cap Challenged!

Yep but only for this year.

All I have to say about this deal. I like.

Truth be told not sold on Suprrier transforming the Redskins into a high scoring offense.

Also getting Rice and Jackson, combined 11 dollars cheaper than Gardner, was a great oppourtunity for me. Those two will easily outproduce Gardner together and singlehandedly both of them have a chance to do so, once Jackson signs with a team. Also a WR stable of D. Jackson, Burress, Rice, Jackson all for under 1500 COMBINED are great cost effective WRs.

The higher draft picks... will be tough to place on the active roster this year but next I should have plenty of cap room to work with. Trust me everything is going to be alright.

In the end I don't have to worry about my WRs anymore and can focus at strengthing other positions with FA and my draft picks.

Jackson would have been dropped outright come June 1st. This move will fit very well into my plans.

Since Mike is bringing up trades from the past... I thought I'd bring up mine.

The trade that netted me Clinton Portis!

He was the player I had in mind during this trade. The players I was looking at when I traded for the pick:

1. Portis
1a. Shockey
2. Stallworth
3. Leile
4 Wells

Man, I was a bit confused until I saw the date on this... I was SURE I still had Rod Gardner as an Opihi... !

(But he's willing to go to a new team!)

It's turn back the clock week at the Frenzy.

Remember when I took Bryant Johnson in the first round?

Good times...good times.

hehe... things are a bit slow right with the tail end of the RFA period dragging along... so some lively 2 year old post trade discussion livens things up a bit ;)

Wanna liven up the board? Just start reposting those "timeless classic" newswire reports about star RBs going down with injuries... that'll get the board hoppin'!
