Can we get a vote on changing the rule to have the clock stop on w/e's? It has not affected me, but probably will in the future as it already has others. I'd be a prime candidate for it as I don't have computer access at home right now.

The solution is simple, MANAGE your team and your bids. Keep the deadlines in mind. Make appropriate plans, proxy moves to others, list cuts, whatever. SACD and Frenzy are very complex leagues, and because of this, part of the responsiblity to manage rule infractions lies on every owner. It's specifically covered in the rules that the owners are responsiblle for policing themselves. The apps and whatnot are provided in a downloadable format for just that purpose. Trust me, policing the rule infractions suck. The last thing any of us want to do is dole out penalties, but again, being a complex league, the burden of responsibility is placed on the shoulders of the individual teams. There really is no reason IMO to make Friday bids wait till Monday to sell. I am going to be extremely vocal against this. If you're the high bid on a Friday and won't be online Sat/Sun to make a move if you win, then PROXY to someone, or better yet friggen post it in the thread with your bid. It's not rocket science. I can see eliminating the Off-Season to In-Season FA ebay bidding, but that isn't the case here. Every team, no matter what their access, can work with proxies if they're worried about divulging their stratagy by placing a cut or years in with the bid. Personally, I think you guys are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Sack up and take some responsibilty for managing your teams within the existing rules, there is no reason to change them in this area. [/RANT]

![]() Anyway. I am very much against the way it works now. It gives people who can't get online on the weekend a huge disadvantage. They either have to show their hand of what their planned moves are or just not get the player. I see no reason why we can't pause the auctions. This is not a matter of knowing the rules - it is a matter of being fair to everyone. This doesn't impact me really - I am online all the time on the weekend, but not everyone is as much of a geek as I am. |

Please describe this huge advantage? That a player bid on Friday will sell Saturday? That God forbid someone might have to proxy a move in case they win the bid, or to bump their bid if it's bumped to someone else? Gimme a break. Honestly, ****ing deal with it IMO. I'm sick of the whining because folks don't want to follow the ****ing rules and want to warp them to their own personal use.

Hey, Preds, I hear you and totally sympathize. But if policing the issue sucks, and for some holding to the issue sucks, let's loosen the bands a bit to ease something no one seems to be really going for.
Also not sure why this needs to wait until the end of the year. Can't this be changed now? I'm not looking to retro fit it for Burt and Rami, but not sure why it can't be changed going forward. Unless it's like a scoring or salary issue, there isn't really a timing necessary. I'm new to this process, so I may not see what the problem is. |

I believe that the rules have a section about rules changes and the process for going through that. This process does not just apply to rules changes that you agree with. I am not suggesting that we change the rules now. We will follow the process outlined in the rules, just like we plan to do on the ebay style auction ending at the end of off season free agency. If your entire argument is based on name calling and mocking, I suggest that you come up with a better reason and a better way to articulate it if you want to presuade anyone to your side. |

I'll try to say this a little less harshly that Mike.
I don't think this is as big a deal as people are making it out to be. So, for those who can't get on on the weekends (which is me quite frequently. Even though I do have access at home, I am usually too busy to remember to check to see if my Ron Dayne bid ended up winning), you have two choices. Don't bid a player on Friday and hope someone bumps him over the weekend. This works when you are just trying to jack the price up for others. If the other 10 teams didn't feel it was worth a bump, you probably don't have to worry about it. Your other choice is to post a cut in your bid. What is the real disadvantage here? The only time I can think it would matter is if you are posting the intentions to cut an attractive player that other teams might rather see in free agency or the waiver wire than the player you are actually bid on. I think these circumstances would be few and far between. If it is the rare circumstance where you are bidding on someone substantial and will be cutting a big name player, then proxy your cut to one of the many guys that are online on the weekends. It seems to me that the majority of the time, the likes of Frisman Jackson are the players getting waived, and it is doing little harm showing your hand. Heck, several times during the week I have seen teams post potential cuts in their bids. |

And, what is so bad about using a proxy? When you bid, do you not think about when the bid will be won, and if you'll be around? Is it that hard to PM someone who can make your move if you win the bid? The proxy doesn't even have to be a league member, just someone on the board who can hook you up while you're gone. And if you can't do that, then why not just list the cut and years. Big whoop. Philly has extremely limited net access all throughout the week, yet he's managed just fine. Should we limit bidding to only hours when he can check-in? This issue just eats at me, there is nothing wrong with the system, it's just a few teams that aren't following along.

I don't see anything wrong with the way the rules are now. There have been times in the past where I've come across similar circumstances in the Frenzy league and I just IM one of the guys not bidding on the player in question with my intentions if I know I'm not going to be around to see if he can "fill in" when needed.

Yah don't see a big deal about the rule now.
It only affects bids placed on ONE days of the week.... Friday. You make a bid Friday.... simply check in on saturday. You can either post your intentions in the thread, e-mail someone else, or even call a friend to check on the bid real quick. Not too hard. Like Mike said pausing the bids on the weekend will remove one day from bidding. Not good.

Too many freakin posts to reply to them all. Yes, this is a complex league that requires more time than normal, BUT it aint my freaking job, it's a GAME. My whole point is, I have a life, and weekends are a big part of it. SOMETIMES I am not around to check every day. I don't think I should have to put down every freakin scenario that might happen and conditions to go on if they happen. $50 cap hit isn't a bid deal. Losing Karlos Freakin Dansby aint a big deal. I shouldn't have to disclose how many years I plan on signing a player before I own his rights. Frank might decide to let me have him at 500cb since I am only taking him for a year. If I said I would sign him for 5 years, he might keep upping the bid. Maybe not a big deal, but neither is pausing the bidding clock during the weekend. Either way, we can still vote on it at seasons end, even if someone thinks it just warping it to MY own personal need. All the F'n rules come from someones personal point of view anyways. To quote Francy Raygun "Just say NO!!"

wow. a lot of emotion in this thread. come on, theology's on another thread!
I can actually see both sides. I did note that of all the supporters, are all previous Frenzy guys. No problem in that, except the are used to this rule. Those, that I have seen who are concerned about this rule are new to the Frenzy Rules. To stop you before you comment, yes, Mike, I know this is a Frenzy League IDP. I think we are all well aware of that. I can see that having weekend breaks limits the FA period. Agreed, it should be five days. However, I am curious as to why it can't start on Monday, instead of Tues? If someone is brash enough and impulsive enough to bid on someone before the MNF, then so be it. Their decision. This still gives five days. As per 'not bidding' on Fridays means that you can lose the bid on a player that you feel would add value to your team, so being realistic, that kinda defeats the purpose of bidding on FA. Call me niave, but I don't run fees up. If I want a player, I bid on him. If I don't, I don't. I agree with Burt on this 100% (and it appears Skippy and Randilover). I spoke my peace back on the Berry thread. Penalties are minor. Personally, so what. The key that kinda got my dander up (yes, I know people don't say that any more) is the spirit. Mike was 100% justified in reminding us of the rules and (trust me I don't want your position) doling out the penalties. He has to as commissioner. However, as Skippy commented in the Berry thread (and I believe later as well in Chester Taylor), it's about the spirit of the game. Legalism kills league. I am personally here to have a blast. Secondary, is to hopefully crush all of you. But the first reason is to give me a little break from reality and hang with some dudes who have the same interests as I do...football. It's about the fun for me. However, I don't choose to spend my time on line on weekends or evenings. Sure I get on sometimes, but mostly I don't. I can always PM someone. But, why should I have to? M-F bidding is fine. Every other league I've seen and been in ('xcept Frenzy) is that way. It's just frustrating in that it feels like instead of playing FF, I have to run a small country (and there's a rebelion brewing). I just want to play the game and see if my strategies can beat the other guys (obviously didn't work so well this past weekend!!). I don't want to memorize 18 pages of rules to make sure some small nuance that I missed isn't going to put a damper on playing. Way to long a reply. Sorry. Most of you probably fell asleep already. |

Boy, didn't know this would get going like this. Next time I'll think harder before writing...
I guess we'll wait and readdress later on in the "offseason." |

I like Rami's suggestion on opening up bidding on Monday instead of tuesday. Seems like a good way to appease both sides.

And this was yet a 3rd bidding issue we need to look into... starting FA bidding on Mondays was suggested, and a weekend suspension?
