Wow! That sounds like a stable full of definite maybe's at RB. Maybe you should've gone 'stud' receiver route? Best not be worrying too much about the old 'dead' Floyd's but instead should be losing sleep thinking about some of the new blood this year!
Correct me if I am wrong but a 1RB and 4WR line-up is valid now?

Last I checked I'm paying 3500k for 20.7 ppg compared to Andre Johnson at 3400 (and rising) for 18.6 ppg Chad Johnson at 3350 (and rising) for 15.23 ppg So with Jamal Lewis as my #1RB, I can live with finding or playing my match ups for RB2 between Micheal Turner, Ernest Graham, Travis Henry, Brandon Jacobs, Rudi Johnson, and Rookie RB 1.2. That's 6 chances and while all maybe in RBBC... I have the lead ball carrier in each RBBC IMO. From a PPG and total points stand point... Jamal Lewis is a better value than Chad or Andre. Considering who I am employing at WR (Randy Moss, Steve Smith, Lee Evans, and Kevin Curtis)... grabbing Jamal Lewis is even better!!

I thought 3500 for Jamal Lewis was ridiculously expensive.

Now Shader you need to behave. 3500 is not alot of money for a RB of Lewis caliber. Last year alone Westbrook was 2800. Steven Jackson was 3200. Randy Moss was 2900.
Oh wait that is a rediculous amount to spend on an old crappy RB.... |

1) HE IS NOT CRAPPY - I'd don't understand how a RB who finished as the #6 RB in total pts and #7 RB in pts per week is crappy? 2) IT IS NOT A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT - ONLY WHEN YOU MAKE A RETARDED COMPARISON OF SAY A 2008 CONTRACT to CONTRACTS FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR! He is WORLDS better than Julius Jones who is going for 3k right now and rising. LT is out of my reach cap wise and no way is Brian letting Clinton Portis go. Also I love how you are comparing Jamal Lewis contract to LAST YEARS deals. Really smart and such a fair comparison. Wanna know how much Jamal Lewis made LASTY YEAR? 2640!! You noobs will soon understand that you're going to have to overpay to acquire talent on the open market with multiple ways to keep talent: via rookie drafts, taxi squad, renegotiation, and franchising. Let me make a much more LOGICAL comparison of Jamal Lewis' 3500 contract: How much does Brain Westbrook cost now? 3800 cbs. How much does Steven Jackson cost now? 3994 cbs. Both were franchised, they didn't even hit the open market b/c their owners feared they'd SELL FOR MORE THAN THAT!! What about Randy Moss? 3190 cb... but he's on my team! Jamal Lewis at 3500 is looking like a steal now especially next to Steven Jackson whom Lewis scored more total points and averaged more pts per game. LT is going for 6350 and he averages 26.2 ppg versus Jamal Lewis (20.7 ppg) at nearly 2x the salary. You guys are really paying close to double for 6 ppg?!! I'm willing to bet I can use that 2k in other areas to make up the 6 ppg edge that LT brings. Hey I'm glad all you guys slept on Jamal Lewis... I just showed you n00bs how his contract holds up against the stud RBs who got new deals this year via franchise or out in FA and he averages more points per game than any of the stud WRs out there who are nearing 3500!! Maybe you n00bs should shut yer trap and watch a master work his craft!! Championship season right here.

lol. I'm glad actual trash-talking exists in this league. It will be fun.
Dude, I have no doubts that guys go for alot of money on the open market. That is quite obvious. I just wouldn't pay that much for Jamal Lewis, though you may end up looking great on that one. And I totally agree that he's a great value compared to Julius Jones, who is going FAR over his value, imo. I welcome the "noob" designation and would like to be called the noob for the entire season, so that when the playoffs come and the noob has risen to the top, out of nowhere, with a pretty bad team, you'll all know that it was a noob that did it to you!

Great signing and it's the only reason you can keep LT really. As long as Welker is on your roster you'll be able to keep LT as long as you like. Also taht damn Burress for Evans trade didn't work out how I wanted it too.

And considering the noobs (or is it nubes?) have helped bid up two admittedly top receivers near the mid-3k mark, one a major injury risk and one a head-case, I think they get the whole "overspending for talent" thing.

Jamal is a fill-in, not a "re-loading" type player. If you're depending on him to carry you beyond this year, you are in deeply serious.
BTW - I have to admit that it's rather funny watching you rag on someone for comparing a contract to the previous year, then trying to justify the price you paid for an aging RB to only his previous year's numbers when his 3yr avg prior to that was 6tds and 1000 yards a season. Even if you discount his age and the ankle problems he's had in the past, I'd hardly call 3500 a steal for those numbers. |

People keep callin Jamal Lewis old but take a look at this.... Jamal Lewis Career: 2120 carries, 28 years old RB ?????: 2365 carries, 28 years old Who is that??? That is LT So if you guys strongly believe LT can continue his pace (you obviously do payingout 6500 cb), there is no reason that Jamal Lewis can't maintain his performance in Cleveland. Again, I'm not saying that Jamal Lewis will be better than LT, but Jamal Lewis isn't the dog that many of you guys make him out to be.

Very astute observation Shader.. tyty.. If I thought Lewis was worth the money I would have kept him, but he is not. Flax, I might be new to this league, but a Noob I am not... that is your mistake for underestimating your opponent and I am sure the upcoming season will bear that out.

Sure a Top 10 RB isn't worth 3500 to you, when you inherited a team with TWO Top 10 RBs COMBINED making less than 3500. Any owner would've done the same thing with Jamal Lewis... if I were in your shoes, I know I would have. That's exactly why I targeted him. Does that make Jamal Lewis an abosolute waste and bad signing? Not for a team that needed an RB1 with modest cap space (I don't have the space to pry away LT or Portis and Lewis is worlds better than the Joneses and the rest of the FA RBs) and has a decent QB and a great WR corps (Moss, Steve Smith, Lee Evans, and Kevin Curtis) already in place. Lewis was expendable for you, not "over-priced." If we switched teams, I think anyone owner with a brain would've made the same moves we did, but maybe I'm giving you more credit than you deserve.
