Final vote: 6-6... needed a majority to pass. Rule change fails.

![]() A tie to change an existing rule should be the same as a failed vote, but I guess we did write "ANY rules vote" in the rules apparently.

We'll see... you can't always go on how people voted in the past.

The rules committee (Jim, Matt & Patrick) met via PM... shared our opinions... and came out with a unanimous ruling. The rule change passes. The toilet bowl draft bonanza is eliminated.
Our unanimous feeling was that this rule served a purpose at a time in the life of this league where a team owner checked out & tanked his season. In an effort to keep up the competitive nature of the league, this rule was created. However, we're at a time now where we feel the involvement of the owners no longer warrants such a rule. In addition, looking at the voting, most of the teams who have been in the bottom feeder bracket voted for the elimination of this rule. |

Think of it this way, Mike... now when you finish near the bottom of the league, you'll get the draft pick next year that you deserve! ;)

Submitted, 2013 ACINT in line to get the #1 pick after completely tanking and making NO efforts to submit viable lineups or roster changes.
I rest my case on this. The lottery system is needed because of shit owners that ignore teams.

Mike, I agree something needs to be done to discourage inactive owners. I just don't think the Toilet Bowl is the solution, as we have shown it can penalize owners who have been heavily active, but just have fallen victim to players performing below past years, injuries, and just plan bad luck (losing multiple times to weeks high scorer), etc.
I would be all in favor of some other kind of penalty, such as loss of draft pick, or a drop in draft order, but not an arbitrary penalty, that may or may not, affect the team who is the slackard.

In an active league such as Frenzy the inactivity such as we've seen this year should never be tolerated and there should be dire repercussions IMO.

And good morning to you, too, Mike!
(Sounds like you've had a rough weekend, so I'll keep this short and sweet...) I think it's fair to raise a concern, as a fellow owner in this league, for an issue that you think is worth addressing for the good of the league. I take umbrage, however, when you start name-calling fellow owners. One of the "shit owners" that you refer to is serving this country in the US Navy, and has been away from his family for 3/4 of the entire time he's been an owner in this league. He's currently deployed on a sub somewhere under the surface of the world's seas, serving to protect freedom. When I initially asked him about his interest in taking over a team in this league, he was not scheduled to be deployed like he has been... but the government has seen to change that, which, of course, was beyond his control. When I noticed that he wasn't able to attend to the needs of the team like we've come to expect from Frenzy owners, I enlisted the help of the other "shit owner" to see the team through this season. This owner is also the owner of a small business (yard care & landscaping) that keeps him outside for long hours every day. He's in another (less demanding) league of mine, so I thought it would be a good fit. He's also the father of a newborn baby, and committed to spending time with his family during the few hours he is home. So in hindsight, this has not been the best fit either. Burt and I have already been in discussion about the future of this team. And I can guarantee you that the ACINT owners have not been intentionally tanking to receive the top draft pick. So (guess this isn't "short and sweet" like I had hoped)... as far as things stand now, there will not be a lottery for the first pick, unless the league moves to cast another vote for NEXT season. |

We all respect Joe and thank him for his service in the Navy, that's not in question. His inability to tender to his team however, because of his duties makes him a poor choice for an owner in this particular league. Bringing in a 2nd own was great, unfortunately the 2nd owner might as well be deployed on a sub himself because he's pretty much ignored the team all season. It doesn't take hours to put in a few bids here, make a couple lineup moves there, etc. I probably put in less than 15 minutes a week into my team on average, but I never put in lineups consisting of players being out or on bye, and keep quick tabs on UFA's and current bidding for potential roster improvements. Owner #2's lack of ability to devote the small amount of time to even make small adjustments to keep his team somewhat competitive makes him a shit owner. I don't care if he runs a small business and works long days, most of us do that. If he can't keep tabs, than he's a bad fit. Sorry, but it just annoyed me when I saw the same thing repeat yet another week with this team.

It's easy for us to devote a "few minutes" each day to attend to our teams, because we've been doing this for years...
However, I went through "Frenzy 101 Orientation" twice this year with these two owners... neither were hard core fantasy football fans. Maybe that was my mistake. But this league is QUITE DIFFERENT from most other leagues... or at least most other casual leagues. TWO websites... including a message board system of bidding... an excel spreadsheet... tons of rules... it's a lot more challenging than we may be aware of, simply because we've navigated this for so long. I think both Joe & Stu have been "over their heads" most of the season. There will probably need to be a change in ownership after this season. However, most of the "blame" here should fall on my shoulders. I was the one who got both of them into something that they weren't adequately prepared for. |

I can help Burt set the lineup for the week, except when I play against them week 13.
I agree, we should see about a transition of team owner. I don't think ACINT intentionally is tanking, just not as avid fans as the rest of us are. I can keep my eye out for a new owner as well. I do agree as well that the integrity of the league depends on all owners being active. let me know what I can do to help. |
