Franchise Question

When franchising a player which Top 10 are considered and when is the value determined? Those at the end of the previous season? Those at the deadline for RFA Tenders, Franchise Tags, Renegotiations, etc.? Some other time?

It's the last date of the season (typcally 3/31, but now, whatever deadline we move it back to). It is the top ten afterave of all salaries on that date.

The franchise figured is based on the top 10 salaries for each position at the conclusion of the prior season. Thus, the end of the season, which is usually March 31 but was pushed back this year till late April.

Basically the day we started the 2007 season, with 2007 salaries and contract years reduced etc, you use the salaries from the evening prior, which is one reason why we post up a final app each season.

You can download the final 2006 Roster App and see what the final top 10 salaries were for the 2006 season.
