Falcons QB Michael Vick, (1/611 cbs)

Not worried that he'll get suspended... just not sure I want a dog-fighter on my team.

Willing to listen to any reasonable offer.

After reading today's news, I'm beginning to be more worried that he'll be in jail, not just suspended...

Too bad, because I've always been a Vick fan. I'll reserve judgment until all the facts are in, but it's not looking good.

The latest I've heard... in terms of jail time, etc... is that if it goes to trial, it will definitely drag on beyond the 2007 NFL season. So this season, he should be good to go... however, ethically, that's another issue. It's the ethics that makes me want to consider moving him. Just testing the waters...

-- Suspension for Vick in 2007 Unlikely --
Tue May 29, 2007 --from FFMastermind.com
ESPN's John Clayton reports the key words to understand what might happen in the Atlanta Faclons QB Michael Vick dog-fighting investigation is "prove to be involved." The NFL, the Falcons and commissioner Roger Goodell really can't do much until the dog-fighting case goes through the legal system. That probably means he won't be suspended in 2007. Cases such as this take as long as eight or nine months to document and litigate. It's pretty evident finding direct, indisputable evidence of Vick's involvement won't be easy. Though the dog fights might have occurred on a property he owns, it isn't proof enough of his involvement. The bad news for Vick is having this case drag on will continue to cost him fans and support.

Sorry, didn't mean to rain on your "one year" parade. I'm definitely speaking longer-term.

If this informant is for real and will testify (big "if"s), it's not looking good for Vick.

http://www.startribune.com/vikings/story/1209987.html

Michael Vick funded and gambled on dog fighting as far back as when he was in college, according to a confidential police informant who appeared on ESPN Sunday.

Vick is a "heavyweight" among dog fighters, said the informant, whose identity was not revealed.

Vick has pitted dogs and funded dogfighting and gambled on the illegal activity as recently as last year, the informant said. The informant also said he witnessed Vick gamble and bring dogs to fight as far back as 2000, when the Falcons quarterback was a student-athlete at Virginia Tech.

"Michael was not in the pit. Michael's thing is he came with all of the money," the informant said. "He was betting. He was betting with everybody. He was betting on his dog, $5,000 on his animal.

"He's one of the ones they call the big boys because he bets a large dollar and he has the money to bet large money. As I'm talking large money, I'm talking $30,000, $40,000. He's one of the heavyweights. "
