Well, I was hoping to avoid this fiasco again, but we once again have teams not making their roster declarations in time

Since Tom is new, and still playing catchup, I will go ahead and give him a freebie. Tom, you need to assign contracts to all your Rookies, RFA's and UFA's gotten this year. Please do it by end of week.

Hans, I will have to do some further research, but I believe the penalty is a loss of your last rookie pick, and all your UFA/RFA's contracts become 1 year deals by default. You can assign your other rookie contracts, but please do it by end of week

Damn..I hate it when he is right...sorry, I guess even the commish gets these things confused..

"The deadline for the announcement of the length of the contracts of players picked up in free agency or the rookie draft will be August 30th (the day after (Tuesday) the 3rd preseason game for most teams) each year by midnight (the night before the start of the In-Season Free Agency period which begins on August 31 each NFL season). No player can be traded unless his contract years are declared BEFORE the trade is announced."

.. well you actually got it right, but then forgot you got it right! No worries. I checked with Shepski and he is planning on having his declarations done today as well ..
