Less than 168 hours until this kicks off. It is hard to believe that we are almost to April again. Any thoughts on how this is going to shake out?

I dont know how its all going to shake out, but i'm certain of a couple of things. First, I'll either make a trade with the Preds, where the Preds will screw me over, or I'll turn down a trade with the Preds that I would have won out on. Secondly, I'll come out of the RFA period worse than I went in. And lastly, I'll be so flustered after all is said and done that I'll do something like takinf Justin McHugh with the second overall pick.

Mike, I notice under the "compensation" you simply have "1st round" or "2nd round". Based on the rules that indicate if there are multiple compensatory picks in a given round the higher pick will go to the owner of the RFA who declined to match first, etc.... could you already put "1.13" for Ricky Williams and "2.13" for Shaun Alexander? Then any additional time an owner declines to match, we can see EXACTLY what the compensation will be.

Or am I just being a bit too anal about this?

I didn't specify the exact picks because as the rules are written they can't be determined until the RFA process is complete.

The rules state:

In the case of multiple RFAs not being matched who had received the same round tender, the player selling for the higher salary above the RFA tag baseline would receive the higher compensatory pick (starting at x.13). So say three players were tendered 2^nd round compensatory picks, but were not matched (an RB tagged at 1300 but sold at 1700, a WR tagged at 800 but sold for 1400, and another WR tagged at 800 and sold at 1000). In this example, the RB sold for 400 above the baseline, the 1^st WR sold for 600 above the baseline, and the 2^nd WR sold for 200 above the baseline. The 1^st WR would receive the 2.13 pick, the RB would receive the 2.14, and the 2^nd WR would get 2.15.

none in particular, it was suggested that we have a way to end the RFA period once the bidding has slowed to a halt to allow teams to prepare for the rookie draft, but if there are still bids to be made than do so.

I might suggest we adjust our timelines however, 1 week between th eNFL draft and ours is pretty short IMO, last year for other reasons we had a 5 weeks in between which was perhaps too long... I'm going to open up a discussion about permanently pushing some of the timelines back in the rules forum.

Why not say the last day after the NFL draft any opening bids for RFA's must be submitted. From there say 2 weeks from the close of the last bid (not counting the 72 period). If no one bids on an RFA on (for this year at least) April 26 We would start May 10 with the rookie draft. This should give everyone ample time to consider the players and the teams/situations that they will be playing in.
