The more I read about this kid the more I love. He's shifty, is an excellant cut-back runner, and has great hands. He beat out a so called better back (Lundy), was coached by a former NFL Head Coach (Al Groh) and was named the teams Most Outstanding Player in 2004 by Groh. The knock on him is his size (5' 9" 208lbs) and his speed (4.65 at the combine, 4.54 on campus). I can name a couple HOFers and future HOFers with similar stature. I'm not saying that Pearman is going to be a stud by any means, but I won't put it past his just because he's an inch shorter and 10lbs lighter than the prototypical NFL back. I also think he's going into a very interesting situation. Fragile Freddy is reportedly very slow in recovering from off-season MCL surgery, some feel there are questions on him playing at full strength in '05. Also the team moved Greg Jones to FB (he's a slug), and hasn't been too happy with Toefield. Pearman has a legit shot to get a lot of practice reps this summer, if he puts it all together (granted a big if), just may impress the coaches enough to get a shot at somepoint THIS season. He's certainly worth the risk of the #30 overall pick. I'm excited to get him. BTW, I believe this is the 1st time I've every drafted 2 players from the same college team (Pearman and Miller). Maybe I'm a closet Virginia Cavaliers fan (I do like the uni's)! Last edited by Preds; May 10th, 2005 at 09:11 PM. |

Not a bad pick. I would have taken him at 2.9 if I hadn't gotten 2 RBs already. He's got as good a chance as anyone (outside of Frye IMHO) to become a solid producer at this point in the draft.
Dang, I couldn't even argue this one. |
