Meh, I acquired Jamal at the deadline for a 3rd rd pick I believe as a playoff depth move (he factored in a couple games for me down the stretch due to injuries). Figured I could get that pick back or better as a RFA or via trade. Certainly had no nead to retain him in 08 with the backs I had returning.

I'm curious to see what you do with my old squad. I had built that team for a several year run, starting with last year.

If I were Hans I'd let Mike have his old team back or else he'll never hear the end of it if/when he team wins.

I don't know, I win either way now. If he blows it with the squad I left him, I can rag on him endlessly, yet if he wins it all (as that team was setup to do), well then of course we all know WHY he won it all.

See win win for me!

Plus I really want to fade back into retirement when Brett returns in July. I'm definately out of sync with FF right now and really not as prepared or knowledgable as years past. Truthfully, I'm a shell of my former self when it comes to FF.

I didn't realize you were new. I guess I can't give you too much commendation then for building the team, then , though I do think the Lewis decision might be a very smart one.

Was that really much of a decision with Gore and AP on the roster already?

I have to admit I thought Frank was a little crazy with this deal for Moss:

http://www.predsff.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11936

2008: 3190
2009: 3509

Not the deal so much (that I thought was a good move) but the 3 reneg which tied him up for 3190 this year and then 3509 next year.

Had I realized how much WR's would be going for (I think last year Holt was the high man with 3,300) I think I might have given more consideration to franchising him.

FWIW, I know the WR #'s are not quite a RB level yet but it seems like the Top 10 WR's are going to be a lot closer to the Top RB's this year. It was 3,800 for the RB's in 2007 and 2639 for the WR's. I am guessing LT and a few of the other RB's will keep the RB # up there but I think the WR number is going to be a lot closer to 3K.

I have a very strong feeling that Jamal Lewis is not who you think he is. He is older and has a LOT of mileage on him. All to often we see one good year from a player and we fall in love or forget thier entire history and we overpay for them.

I think that midway through the year you will be kicking yourself for paying Lewis like was a stud when he is a role player. He is not a marquis RB, he is a bench player. You are paying him like a marquis player.

I think we will be ragging you about this for awhile.

Just because a player is bid on, doesn't mean that team is trying to get that player. There is a lot more strategy to RFA bidding then just throwing money after players you want. Never assume anything in the process ;-)

So what about Ladanlian Tomlinson?

He is the same age as Jamal Lewis.... has MORE CARRIES and I didn't look, but I willing to say he has more receptions, mean he has more overall touches than Jamal Lewis. On carries alone he has 200 more than Jamal Lewis!!!

Jamal Lewis Career: 2120 carries, 28 years old
RB ?????: 2365 carries, 28 years old

From what I saw is that Jamal Lewis was revitalized in Cleveland... again as he does not have to carry the entire load of the offense like in Baltimore.

LT does a good job of shying away from contact, but he still has tons of milage on him and last year his body finally has broken down some. What if it is a sign of more injuries to come? That's not something I'm willing to risk 6500 cbs on.

But we have a difference of opinion and that's what makes the world go round. I just fidn it funny that people call Jamal Lewis old, when he's the same age as LT and actually has fewer mileage on him.

Yep. I am a genius!!

I figured that would happen, so I was more than willing to pull our deal together in order to get the better WR and lock him up for cheaper than I had locked up Torry Holt in 07.

With most talent being locked into rookie deals any talent that hits the open market will cost a ton.

Like you said, it is just a difference of opinion, but LT is a once in a lifetime player to me. In my humble opinion, Lewis is just a good back that doesnt have the skills he once did. I just don't think you can fairly compare them.

I don't think Frank was trying to say Lewis is a comperable back to LT, statwise or fantasywise. I think he was trying to show that LT and Lewis are comparable in age and wear-n-tear, and that while people are discounting Lewis for his age, no one would say the same about LT.

Lewis at 3500cb is freaking robbery, compared to the prices of RFA's out there right now.

Again, whatever point he was making, my point is still valid. LT is a once in a lifetime back. He has been more durable than any other back. Lewis is not in his league. That is all I am saying. I think that should be fairly easy to understand for someone as wise and grizzled in the FFB world as you old timers right?

Noob out.

I know. I am kidding too.

It is funny though that people complain they are outbid... Imagine an auction where some fat old country guy is talking 100 words a minute. People are bidding, and then one guy stands up and yells, "hey, ya'll stop bidding up that furniture. I want it!"

lol
